Itinerary
Day 1
Chandigarh to Narkanda via Shimla (165 Kms /5 -6  Hours)

On your arrival at the Chandigarh Airport / Railway Station in the morning, you will be met by our local representative / cab driver at Chandigarh. We will start driving in the  morning from Chandigarh to reach Shimla by  evening. The drive is superbly scenic as lush green mountains present a welcome sight once you cross Solan. We would halt for lunch during the daytime, followed by another quick halt for tea and refreshments later.  The upcoming days are going to be challenging as we make our way past numerous mountain tops that promise a vision of unparalleled beauty. After leaving Shimla, the first major tourist point at 64 km from Shimla is Narkanda situated at an attitude of 2708 meters on the Hindustan Tibet road (NH - 22), the popular ski and winter sports resort in the region. This is the gateway to Kinnaur. From here if the weather is clear, you get the first glimpse of the magnificence lying ahead. From the green valleys in the foreground to the striking expanse of snow covered Himalayan wall on the horizon, the breathtaking spectacle is the first indication of the splendour up ahead. It commands an unique view of the eternal snow line, the inviting apple orchards and dense forests. If you have time and energy we could drive up to Hatu Peak 8 kms away. Overnight in Narkanda.

Day 2
Narkanda to Sangla (159 Kms / 5 Hours)

Morning Drive to Sangla via the Hindustan-Tibet Road

In the morning, we begin our scenic journey along the legendary Hindustan–Tibet Road toward Sangla Valley. As we drive, the stunning landscape unfolds — with the Baspa River meandering through the valley, creating a picture-perfect setting at every turn. Upon arriving in Sangla, we head to the charming Kamru Village, nestled amidst apple orchards and panoramic mountain views. From here, enjoy a short scenic hike to Kamru Fort, an architectural marvel perched on a hilltop.

At Kamru, you may explore:

🏯 Kamru Fort – A centuries-old tower-like structure that once served as the coronation site for the rulers of the Rampur Bushahr dynasty.

🕉️ Sh. Badri Vishal Ji Temple – A revered Hindu temple within the fort complex.

🙏 Buddhist Monastery – Reflecting the peaceful coexistence of Hindu and Buddhist cultures in the valley.

💫 Goddess Kamakshi Temple – The fort also houses a shrine to Goddess Kamakshi, whose idol was brought from Guwahati centuries ago, highlighting the region’s deep spiritual roots.

Enjoy the opportunity to interact with the warm and welcoming tribal communities, witness local traditions, and soak in the serene mountain vistas of this culturally rich region. Night stay at Sangla.

Day 3
Sangla - Chitkul  & Rakcham - Kalpa

Day Excursion: Rakcham & Chitkul – The Hidden Gems of Kinnaur

Morning in Rakcham
After a leisurely breakfast with breath taking mountain views, we set off on a 1–2 hour nature walk across the Baspa River to explore the serene and lesser-known village of Rakcham.

Rakcham is a peaceful Himalayan haven. Picture this: 🌲 Whispering pine trees 🌞 Warm sunshine and cool mountain breezes 🏔️ Snow-capped peaks 💧 Crystal-clear blue waters of the Baspa River

This tranquil setting offers the perfect backdrop for nature lovers, photographers, and those simply seeking peace. Rakcham is also gaining popularity for boulder rock climbing and is a true offbeat destination in Himachal Pradesh, still untouched by mass tourism.

Afternoon at Chitkul – The Last Village of India

Later, we continue with a short drive to Chitkul (3,450 m / 11,318 ft), located just 10 km from Rakcham. This scenic drive takes around 30 minutes each way. Chitkul is the last inhabited village near the Indo–Tibetan border and feels straight out of a fairy tale — with traditional wooden houses, ancient temples, and sweeping views of the Trans-Himalayan ranges. You’ll have plenty of time to wander through the village, meet friendly locals, and soak in the magical atmosphere that makes Chitkul a highlight of the Sangla Valley. Later drive for 54 kms to reach Kalpa. On reaching check in to your hotel for night stay.

Day 4

After an early breakfast, begin your drive toward Tabo, a day packed with natural beauty, cultural richness, and spiritual significance.

🚩 Roghi Suicide Point - Our first stop is the dramatic and thrilling Roghi Suicide Point, famous for its vertical cliffs and hair-raising views. A perfect spot for photography, but please be cautious and stay safe while enjoying the view.

🏔️ Kinner Kailash Viewpoint- After Roghi, marvel at the majestic Kinner Kailash Peak, a sacred mountain in Hindu mythology and a mesmerizing backdrop for your journey.

🌊 Khab  Sangam Confluence of Sutlej and Spiti Rivers

Often called the Ajanta of the Hills, Tabo dates back to 996 AD and holds immense religious significance for Tibetan Buddhists. Tabo Monastery encompasses 9 temples, 23 chortens and residences for Buddhist monks. The 10th century Tabo Monastery was founded by the great scholar, Richen Zangpo, and has been declared as the World Heritage Site by UNESCO. By visiting the monastery, you will be able to have a close glimpse of huge collection of scroll paintings, manuscripts, statues, ancient murals etc.

🌙 Evening in Tabo - After a spiritually enriching day, check in to your local homestay in Tabo. Enjoy the warm hospitality, a hearty dinner, and a well-deserved rest under the Himalayan stars.

Day 5
Tabo to Kaza via Dhankar and Pin Valley

Today, we bid farewell to Tabo and begin our journey towards Kaza, the heart of Spiti Valley. En route, we’ll make a stop at Dhankar Village, home to the historic Dhankar Monastery. Perched dramatically on a cliffside, this 1,000-year-old monastery is not only a place of deep spiritual significance but also listed among the world's 100 most endangered monuments. The Monastery has about 100 Lamas and is in position of Budhist scriptures in Bhoti language. Principal figure is a Statue of “Vairochana” (Dhayan Budha) consisting of 4 complete figures seated back to back. It has relics in the shape of paintings and scriptures. The views from Dhankar — of the confluence of the Spiti and Pin Rivers and the surrounding surreal landscape — are truly unforgettable.

From Dhankar, you'll catch sight of the road that diverges into Pin Valley, one of the most picturesque and verdant regions in the otherwise arid Spiti landscape. We take this route to reach Mud Village, the last inhabited village in Pin Valley. Surrounded by towering peaks and lush meadows, Mud offers a perfect spot for soaking in the raw beauty of Spiti. Later check in to your home stay for night stay.

Day 6
Exploring Langza, Hikkim & Komic – A Day Above the Clouds

Begin your morning with a visit to the quaint village of Langza, perched at an altitude of around 4,400 meters. This charming hamlet is known for two remarkable things — fossils and the towering Buddha statue that watches peacefully over the valley. Take some time to explore the fossil-rich soil, and perhaps pick up a few as unique souvenirs from the Tethys Sea era, when this region was underwater. The serene ambiance near the Buddha statue offers a perfect spot to pause, reflect, and maybe even meditate in silence, surrounded by the Himalayas.

From Langza, take a short scenic drive to Hikkim, home to the world’s highest post office. Located at a breath taking altitude of 4,400 meters, this humble little post office connects this remote region to the rest of the world. Drop a postcard to yourself or your loved ones — a simple yet timeless way to preserve the magic of this journey.

Next, continue your ascent to Komic, officially the world’s highest village connected by a motorable road, sitting at 4,587 meters. Explore the village, visit the centuries-old Tangyud Monastery, and chat with the friendly monks who call this rugged terrain home. Don’t forget to pose by the iconic signboard marking the village’s unique status — a photo worth cherishing.

After this unforgettable day spent among the clouds and peaks, return to Kaza and settle in at your hotel. Let the experiences of the day sink in as you enjoy a peaceful night’s rest in the heart of Spiti.

Day 7
Kee Monastery, Chicham Bridge & Chandratal Itinerary

Start your day with a visit to Kee Monastery, the largest and one of the most iconic monasteries in the Spiti Valley. Perched on a hilltop, this serene Buddhist monastery is not just a place of worship but a treasure trove of ancient murals, thangkas (scroll paintings), stucco images, and manuscripts. Its peaceful atmosphere and spiritual aura make it a must-visit, especially for those with an interest in art, culture, or spirituality.

After spending ample time soaking in the tranquility of Kee, head towards the remarkable Chicham Bridge. This engineering marvel connects the remote villages of Kibber and Chicham and is the highest bridge in Asia, suspended over a dramatic 1,000-foot-deep gorge. Before its completion—after more than 15 years of effort—the villagers had to rely on hand-operated ropeways to cross the chasm. Standing on the bridge offers breathtaking views and a strong sense of the region’s resilience and ingenuity.

Your journey continues through picturesque landscapes, passing through Rangrik and Losar villages en route to Kunzum Pass. Located at a staggering altitude of 4,551 meters, Kunzum Pass serves as a gateway between the Lahaul and Spiti valleys. It's one of the key high-altitude passes used during the summer when the snow melts and roads reopen.

Finally, arrive at the enchanting Chandratal Lake, nestled at 4,300 meters. Known as the “Lake of the Moon,” this crescent-shaped lake is one of the most mesmerizing sights in the Himalayas, reflecting the surrounding peaks like a mirror. Spend time exploring the area and soaking in the pristine beauty before settling into your campsite near the lake.

As night falls, don’t miss the opportunity for stargazing. Thanks to minimal light pollution and the high altitude, Chandratal is one of the best places in India to witness a clear, star-studded sky—a truly unforgettable end to your day.

Day 8
Return to Manali via Atal Tunnel

Today marks your journey back to civilization as you leave the raw, untouched beauty of Spiti behind and descend towards the bustling town of Manali. The journey begins with one of the most exciting highlights of modern infrastructure—the Atal Tunnel. This engineering marvel, one of the longest high-altitude road tunnels in the world, has drastically reduced travel time between Lahaul-Spiti and Manali, allowing you to bypass the treacherous Rohtang Pass. Passing through this tunnel not only saves hours but offers a glimpse into the seamless blend of nature and modern development.

As you emerge into the lush greenery and lively atmosphere of Manali, you’ll immediately feel the change—from barren high-altitude landscapes to pine forests, flowing rivers, and crisp mountain air.

Once in Manali, take the opportunity to unwind and explore:

Hadimba Temple: A beautiful wooden temple surrounded by cedar forests, dedicated to Hadimba Devi, a figure from the Mahabharata. The serene surroundings and unique architecture make it a peaceful stop.

Old Manali: Wander through the charming lanes of Old Manali, lined with quaint cafés, local shops, and an easy going vibe. It’s a great place to grab a bite, enjoy some live music, or simply soak in the chilled-out ambiance.

Mall Road: Spend some time browsing through Manali’s popular Mall Road, ideal for picking up souvenirs, woollens, and handicrafts. The hustle and bustle here contrast beautifully with the stillness you’ve experienced in the mountains.

After a day of slow exploration and reflection, return to your hotel for a well-deserved rest. Let the comfort of a warm bed and memories of the high Himalayas lull you into a peaceful sleep.

Day 9
Bid Adieu to Spiti

And just like that, your incredible 8-day journey through the surreal landscapes of Spiti Valley comes to an end. What started as an adventure into the remote, rugged heart of the Himalayas has become a collection of unforgettable memories—of starry skies, ancient monasteries, winding mountain roads, and quiet moments of reflection surrounded by nature’s raw beauty.

Today, with a heavy heart but a soul full of stories, it’s time to bid farewell to this magical land.

We start our early morning drive to Chandigarh, tracing back the winding mountain roads that once brought you into Spiti. The descent offers a final glimpse of the valleys and peaks that have become familiar over the past week. You may not say much during the ride, but the silence will be filled with memories.

By evening, you’ll arrive in Chandigarh, where the next chapter of your journey awaits—whether it’s a flight back home or onward to new destinations. As you board your flight, take a moment to reflect on the adventure you've just completed: the warmth of Spitian hospitality, the thrill of high-altitude passes, the calm of ancient gompas, and the sense of connection with something far bigger than yourself.

Spiti may be remote, but once you've been here, a part of it always stays with you.
